Main Causes for FOod Poisoning and FOod COntamination...
Food poisoning takes place when water or food that has been contaminated is then consumed. Contamination happens throughout the process of obtaining and eating the food. Contamination could occur during the stages of growing, harvesting, processing, storing or preparing.
Contaminated water used to wash fruits
Growing: Water that is contaminated with human sewage or animal manure in some cases are used to wash fresh fruits and vegetables. The contact of the contaminated water with the fresh fruits and vegetables would result in food poisoning.
Meat and poultry
Processing: Bacteria are commonly found in the intestines of healthy animals we use as a food source. For example, if meat or poultry come into contact with bacteria when processing, contamination of the food could occur.

Preparing: If a contaminated person is handling food or the food comes into contact with a contaminated product, it is likely that the food will be contaminated. When handling food, it is important to wash the cutting board if you use it to chop vegetables and then to prepare meat. By doing so, you will avoid contamination of your vegetables from occurring.
Most of the time, organisms such as bacteria, viruses or parasites are transmitted from other sources to the food. These organisms are usually the number one cause to food poisoning. On the other hand, there are food poisonings that occur because the food contains poison or toxin. Examples of these less common causes to food poisoning can be ingestion of poisonous mushrooms or fish.
